Student Council

Student Council at Western Intermediate School is a great opportunity for students to grow as leaders and make a difference in their school and community.

Members meet monthly to share ideas, plan projects, and represent their classmates. Each year, Student Council leads an annual food drive to support local food pantries and organizes outreach visits to nursing homes and other community organizations.

Through their work, students learn the value of teamwork, service, and leadership, helping to make Western Intermediate a place where every student can lead, serve, and shine

TAG Groups

At Western Intermediate School, we believe learning extends beyond the classroom. Our TAG (Talents and Growth) Groups provide students with meaningful opportunities to explore their interests, develop new skills, and connect with peers who share their passions. These extracurricular groups meet once per week, either before or after school, and participation is open through a simple application process.

  • Students in Baking Club explore the joy of creating and sharing delicious treats. Through hands-on experiences, they learn to read and follow recipes, measure ingredients, practice kitchen safety, and even experiment with homemade and no-bake creations.

  • Drama Club allows students to express their creativity through acting, storytelling, and performance. Participants learn the fundamentals of theater, develop confidence, and collaborate to create a short performance that showcases their growth and teamwork.

  • Students with a love for numbers and problem-solving can challenge themselves in Math Bowl. Participants strengthen their advanced math skills, practice higher-level concepts, and work together to prepare for competition opportunities later in the school year.

  • This club empowers girls in grades 3–5 to explore the exciting world of STEM through creativity and innovation. Members learn about women in science, engage in hands-on experiments, tackle engineering challenges, and discover how curiosity and confidence can change the world.

  • Yearbook Club members take on the important role of capturing memories throughout the school year. Students collaborate on layout design, photography, and storytelling to create a keepsake that reflects the spirit and experiences of Western Intermediate School.

  • The Kindness Crew promotes positivity and compassion throughout our school and community. Students plan and participate in meaningful projects like Random Acts of Kindness Week, service initiatives, and Buddy Bag drives to help others and make a difference.

  • Music Makers gives students the chance to explore their love for music beyond the classroom. Through composing, performing, and experimenting with rhythm and sound, participants strengthen their musical talents while learning the value of collaboration and creativity.

  • In Sign Language Club, students learn basic American Sign Language to communicate in new and inclusive ways. They practice signing everyday words and phrases and even prepare short performances using ASL, promoting empathy and connection through language.

  • Leadership League encourages students to develop the skills of effective, compassionate leaders. Members learn about teamwork, communication, and decision-making while planning and carrying out a school-wide project that builds community and showcases student voice.
